Planter: Marbled Experiment (Large)
So many different experiments in this planter.
Marbled vessels are such a delight to make and such a long process to get there. I stain the porcelain several different colors with mason stains then lightly wedge them together and leave them for a week so the clays can acclimate to the same moisture level . Then I add marbled slices and coils to my clay to throw on the wheel.
In this piece, I threw the body with a finely marbled green and white porcelainn, then I threw a marbled coil on the top, added triangles of marbled clay coming down from the rim and inlaid blue slip lines just for fun.
One internal crack where one of the inlaid triangles is. You can only push the clay so far. Does not impact function. Your plants will love it.
Outside is bare colored porcelain. Inside is a blue celadon glaze. 3 drainage holes. 5.5” high.
One of a kind. Handmade.
Perfect gift for someone who loves art and plants.
